Wembley Stadium staged 34 concerts between June and September 2026 and put more than 2.5 million music fans through the doors, a run the operator calls its “biggest summer of music ever.” For a 90,000-seat building, that works out to roughly 28 capacity crowds in a single summer.
A 34-concert season
2.5 million Music fans through Wembley’s doors between June and September 2026, across 34 concerts in 98 nights.
The figures come from Wembley Stadium’s own announcement. The concert program ran for 98 nights, from June through September, and totaled 34 shows, up from 26 in 2025.
Mark Lynch, Wembley’s Stadium Director, summed it up in one sentence: “With a mammoth 34 concerts this summer, up from 26 last year, this has been Wembley Stadium’s biggest summer of music ever.”
He added that welcoming more than 2.5 million fans and artists showed what the national stadium can deliver, and that the venue now has a platform to build on.
That’s the music story, and it’s a real one. Going from 26 concerts to 34 in a year is a sizable step for any venue. But the part a music outlet wouldn’t stop to explain is why Wembley, specifically, is the building in England that can run a season like this.
What 90,000 seats make possible
Capacity is where the stadium story starts. Wembley Stadium holds 90,000. Of the 181 stadiums we cover, that puts it 13th by capacity, and it makes Wembley the largest stadium in England in our catalog. The margin isn’t close. Here is every English ground we hold, by capacity:
| Stadium | Capacity | Opened | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Wembley Stadium | 90,000 | 2007 |
| 2 | Old Trafford | 74,158 | 1910 |
| 3 | Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | 62,850 | 2019 |
| 4 | London Stadium | 62,500 | 2012 |
| 5 | Anfield | 61,276 | 1884 |
| 6 | Etihad Stadium | 61,038 | 2002 |
| 7 | Hill Dickinson Stadium | 52,769 | 2025 |
15,842 The gap between Wembley and Old Trafford, the next-largest ground in England in our catalogue.
Second place is Old Trafford at 74,158. Wembley sits 15,842 seats clear of it. Third is Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 62,850, and from there the list bunches up.
Now run the season through that capacity. By our arithmetic, 2.5 million divided by 90,000 comes to about 27.8 full houses, so roughly 28 capacity crowds of music in one summer. Divide the same 2.5 million by 34 concerts instead and the average crowd comes out at about 73,500 a night, which is roughly 82% of capacity. Both are calculations, not reported figures, and both are floors, because the operator’s number is “more than” 2.5 million. The real averages sit above these. An 82% average held across 34 nights is a different proposition from one sold-out show, and it’s the number that tells you the building was being used, not just booked.
Hold that 73,500 against the table. An average concert crowd at Wembley this summer was roughly the size of a full house at Old Trafford, and only Wembley had room to spare above it. That 15,842-seat gap is the reason a stadium can take a 12-night residency at all, and it’s the thing a music outlet reporting this story wouldn’t think to mention.
Widen the frame and Wembley’s place shifts. Twelve stadiums in our catalogue are bigger than it, and ten of those twelve are American football grounds, each one listed in our records for a single sport. Only two venues we cover outrank Wembley and were built for anything else: Grand Stade Hassan II at 115,000 and Camp Nou at 99,354. That makes Wembley the third-largest non-American-football stadium on our list, and it is the reason a comparison with Old Trafford is the right one to draw. The buildings above it are mostly answering a different question.
What the building is being used for
Two bookings from the season show what that headroom gets used for.
Harry Styles played an unprecedented 12-night run of his Together, Together tour, which earned a Guinness World Records title for the longest residency in one single run by an artist at Wembley Stadium. One act held the national stadium for twelve nights, which at Wembley’s capacity puts more than a million seats on sale for a single booking.
Diljit Dosanjh closed the season and became the first South Asian artist to headline Wembley Stadium. The last booking of the stadium’s biggest music summer was also a first for it.
For 98 nights between June and September, the largest stadium on our England list was running as a concert venue, and by our arithmetic it filled roughly 28 times over. That’s the stadium story inside the music one.
